Please join us at our Association Meeting next Tuesday to celebrate our With sadness, we must say goodbye to our current representatives from Torrance Memorial since they are retiring. We have enjoyed our dealings with Kathryn Joiner and Betsy Biggins in our partnership with Torrance Memorial Medical Center. The two of them have recently announced their retirement and we are going to miss working with them and wish them good luck in whatever they choose to do in the future. Enjoy the extra time with your kids this Friday since we have a Student Free day. Wendy
Hurst Join us for our PTSA Association Meeting on Tuesday, February 7th at 6:30pm in the Calle Cafeteria. We will be honoring our "In Search of Excellence", Honorary Service, Spelling Bee and Council Reflections Award Winners. We will also be celebrating PTA Founder's Day and holding our annual elections. *** YOGURT ME MINE will be at Calle every Wednesday after school. Frozen yogurt is sold for $3.00 each. This is a fundraiser for the PTSA. We plan to use the money that they earn to buy additional lunch benches for the students. 8th Grade News Save the date for the Annual Calle Mayor vs. Richardson Basketball Games on Tuesday, March 6th at the South High Gym. Please contact Joanne at cocoajoa@aol.com if you would like to help with the fundraiser. We will not be having volleyball games during this event since Richardson did not have a team ready. They are hoping to have a volleyball tournament later in the year, so stay tuned for more info. All 8th graders interested in being a part of the Calle Mayor Cheer Team for our upcoming basketball games versus Richardson, contact Mrs. Lee in Room 16. Mark

STUDENT COUNCIL - Our meeting is next Thursday, February 2nd at lunch in Room 16. LOST AND FOUND - Remember all clothing items in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity on February 2nd. STUDENT FREE DAY - There is no school for students on Friday, February 3rd. LUNCH CLUB is now located in Room 29 on Mondays and Wednesday beginning at 12:30pm. On Tuesdays we will meet in Room 31. TUTORING- After-school tutoring help is in Room 24 from 3 to 4pm on Mondays through Thursday. Everyone is welcome. The
Mathematics Department is collecting old cell phones, digital cameras,
laptops, MP3 players, empty printer cartridges for recycling.
You can turn them in to Mr. Gerson. Ask your employer what they do with
their empty ink cartridges. You may win a trip to Disney World and earn
$500 for our school if you get your company to donate their cartridges.

info. You can purchase raffle tickets to win a Lexus Hybrid from Torrance Education Foundation in the school office. Tickets are $30 each and $20 from each ticket sold goes to the school program of your choice. |
